UB Men Remain Ninth at ECAC'sPITTSBURGH, PA - The University at Buffalo held on to its ninth-place showing through Friday's events at the ECAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Pittsburgh. UB now has 108 points, heading into Saturday's final night trailing eighth-place Westminster (111) by just three points. Four-time defending champion Maryland-Baltimore County leads with 458.5 points. Thirty teams have scored points in the meet with Niagara tallying one point for 30th place.
The Bulls also placed a pair in the consolation finals of the 100 backstroke. Junior Tony Lizauckas (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) finished 12th in 54.91 while freshman teammate Evan McCormack (Webster, NY/Webster) was 14th in a season-best 55.24. Niagara's Rob Harold garnered the Purple Eagles' lone point of the meet thus far with his 16th place finish in the race in 55.55.
Head coach Budd Termin was enthused about his young squad reaching the finals in their events. "All the kids are getting back to the consolations or championships and tomorrow we have our best events coming up," said Termin.
