BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team split a Mid-American Conference double-dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Arena Natatorium in the Bulls' final regular-season competition. UB defeated Miami (Ohio), 124-119, but fell to conference-leader Eastern Michigan, 188-55. Eastern Michigan also defeated Miami by a 178-65 score.

The Bulls (3-5 overall, 1-4 MAC) were able to secure several second-place spots behind Eastern Michigan swimmers to hold Miami off. UB picked up second place finishes from Aviv Oren (Rishon Le-Zion, Israel/Makif A') in the 50 freestyle and Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward) in the 1650 freestyle. Oren turned in a 21.88 in the 50 and Sy recorded a 16:04.18 in the 1650, both season-best times in their events. Freshman Patrick Lee (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) also recorded a second-place finish in the three-meter diving with a score of 296.75, just behind Andrew Siebenick of Eastern Michigan, who posted a winning score of 297.55.

Eastern Michigan (10-1 overall, 5-0 MAC), the defending league champions, dominated the meet, winning 10 of the 13 events. Jeff Luhn and Sean Joyce won two events for the Eagles on the day. Luhn swept the 50 freestyle (21.28) and 100 freestyle (46.26) while Joyce took both distance races, the 500 freestyle (4:39.09) and 1650 freestyle (15:57.38).

Miami (4-8 overall, 1-4 MAC) picked up victories from Peter Donohue in one-meter diving (310.20) and Kelly Ball in the 200 butterfly (1:52.42).
