Bulls Fall to Bonnies, 139-100
ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – The University at Buffalo men’s swimming and diving team concluded its dual-meet season Wednesday night with a 139-100 non-conference loss to St. Bonaventure. The Bulls finish the regular season with a 3-4 overall record. The Bulls scored victories in five of the meet’s 13 events on Wednesday with two individuals, sophomores Connor Vander Zalm (Kelowna, British Columbia/Kelowna) and Michael McDowell (Rush, NY/Rush Henrietta) earning a pair of wins apiece. Vander Zalm swept the distance freestyle races. He opened with a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:55.15. Vander Zalm followed with a win in the 500-yard freestyle race in 4:55.35.
Sophomore Andrew Tamchyna (Newmarket, Ontario/Newmarket) was UB’s other victor on Wednesday. Tamchyna claimed first place in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.36. The Bulls begin the postseason with the combined Mid-American and Sun Belt Conference Championships starting on February 27 in Nashville, TN.
