UB picked up four victories in the 13-event meet. UB senior Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward CSS) registered a pair of wins to lead the Bulls. Sy captured the grueling 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:48.37, holding off a hard charge from St. Bonaventure's Scott Jordan, who finished second in 9:49.92. Sy also rallied to win his specialty event, the 200-yard butterfly, touching out St. Bonaventure's Roman Margulis by three-hundredths of a second. Sy, who trailed Margulis the entire race, reached the wall first in 1:54.85 to Margulis' 1:54.88.

Sophomore Luke Adams (Quinnesec, MI/Kingsford) claimed the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.58 to lead the Bulls to the top two spots in the race. Senior Evan McCormack (Webster, NY/Webster) finished second in 1:58.53.

St. Bonaventure claimed the remaining seven individual events. Michal Bogacki won the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.75). Seth Johnson took the 50-yard freestyle (21.86), Tommy Nowakowski won the 200-yard individual medley (1:56.31), Ryan Moore claimed the 100-yard freestyle (47.90), Adrian Blaszczak took the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.36). Matt Dickinson won the one-meter diving (233.25 points) and James Zewe took the three-meter event (425.92).

The Bonnies also took both relay races. The 400-yard medley relay team of Dan Freeland, Blaszczak, Margulis and Johnson won in 3:30.09 while the 400-yard freestyle foursome of Moore, Freeland, Patrick Doret and Ryan Lacey claimed its race in 3:17.81.

The Bulls honored their senior class, Fotis Bardis (Kisissia Athens, Greece/Third Lyceum of Kisissia), Dustin Hui (Gardner, MA/Gardner), McCormack, Erik Schwarz (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Sy, Geoff Wells (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) and Yarger, prior to the meet. Head coach Budd Termin said, "This is one of the most improved groups of swimmers to come into the program. And with a 3.014 cumulative grade point average, this group has shown quality all through their careers."

UB's postseason begins on February 27 with the ECAC Championships in Pittsburgh. The Mid-American Conference Championship is the following weekend, starting March 3, in Oxford, OH.
