Men's Swimmers Fall Against Eastern Michigan, 123-71
YPSILANTI, MI - The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team dropped a 123-71 decision to defending Mid-American Conference champion Eastern Michigan Saturday afternoon at EMU's Jones Natatorium. The loss closes the Bulls' regular season at 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the MAC. The Bulls picked up a pair of diving victories from freshman Cassidy Lynch (Westminster, CO/Legacy), who returned to the lineup after missing the last three meets due to academics. Lynch scored a 285.10 total for six dives to win the three-meter event. He then posted a 279.75 score on the one-meter board to earn first-place points.
The Bulls also posted three second-place finishes on Saturday. Included was Adams' first dual-meet loss this season in the 200-yard backstroke. Adams turned in a 1:55.45 to finish behind EMU freshman Mark Kurtzer (1:53.37). Aaron Moessinger (Elma, NY/Iroquois) also placed second in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:58.46 and Jeff Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.45. The Bulls now head into the postseason. UB will compete in the ECAC Championships
in Pittsburgh starting on February 24. The MAC Championships in Athens, OH begin on March 2. |
