UB Men's Swimmers Come Up Short at Eastern Michigan
YPSILANTI, MI – The University at Buffalo’s men’s swimming and diving team dropped a 135-88 decision to defending Mid-American Conference champion and current league leader Eastern Michigan on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls are now 3-4 overall and 1-4 in MAC action. Eastern Michigan is 6-3 overall and leads the league with a 3-0 mark. UB picked up three victories as Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward CSS) took the 200 butterfly in 1:53.83. He also swam the opening leg of the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:24.33). Sy was joined on the winner’s stand by Matt Lazio (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon), Aaron Moessinger (Elma, NY/Iroquois) and James Wood (Fairport, NY/Fairport). Geoff Wells (Waterville, NY/Anthony Wayne) was also victorious for the Bulls. Wells captured the 200 breaststoke in 2:10.30. Patrick Lee (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) narrowly missed capturing the three-meter diving competition. Lee finished third with 284.10 points, but was less than five points out of first place. Eastern Michigan divers Josh Olsen (288.95) and Ryan Cowmeadow (286.10) finished ahead of Lee. The Bulls host the UB Invitational next Saturday and Sunday at Alumni Arena Natatorium. |
