Rough Waters at St. Bonaventure
The University at Buffalo men's swimming team dropped a
142-54 decision to non-conference rival St. Bonaventure on Thursday evening at
the Reilly Center Pool in UB's lone action for the week. UB is now 2-4
overall with one regular season meet remaining on the schedule.
UB's lone victory in the meet was in the 200-yard backstroke as
junior Luke Adams (Quinnesec, MI/Kingsford)
remained undefeated in the event. Adams clocked a 1:57.11 showing en route to a one-and-a-half-second
victory over St. Bonaventure's Dan Freeland. He also competed in the
1,000-yard freestyle, racing against last week's Atlantic 10 Swimmer of the Week,
Chris Ekimoff. Adams finished second in the race in 9:47.26, less than a
second behind Ekimoff's 9:46.31.
Several Bulls Post Second-Place Finishes vs. Bonnies
Jeff Hurst | The Bulls posted four second-place performances Thursday
night. Besides Adams' second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, senior
Jeff Hurst (Rochester,
NY/Greece-Athena) placed second in the 200-yard
individual medley in 1:58.74, just one-hundredth of a second behind
St. Bonaventure's Scott Jordan (1:58.73). Senior
Kevin Gatley (Charlton, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston
Lake) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle
in 1:45.73. Sophomore Leandro Souza (Rio de Janiero, Brazil/Missouri
State) also placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke

NY/Greece-Arcadia) and Gatley also finished second in 3:15.72.
Adams Picks Up Pair of MAC Honors
Luke Adams | Luke Adams' strong performances against Niagara and Ohio garnered the junior a pair of awards from the
Mid-American Conference. On Tuesday, Adams earned the league's Men's Swimmer of the Week award and followed that on Thursday with
the MAC's Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Week award. For the season, Adams is undefeated in the 200-yard backstroke, winning in
all four dual meets that he has entered the event. He suffered his first loss of the dual season in the 1,000-yard freestyle on Thursday at
St. Bonaventure as he fell to top Atlantic 10 performer Chris Ekimoff. Currently ranks in the top 10 in three MAC events this season.

freestyle (4:44.08).
Eastern Michigan Completes Regular Season Slate
