Men's Swimmers Decisioned at Ohio
ATHENS, OH - The University at Buffalo men's swimming team fell to Ohio University, 125-74, in Mid-American Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Ohio University Aquatics Center. The Bulls fell to 2-3 overall and 0-3 in the MAC while the Bobcats improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in league action. Junior Luke Adams (Quinnesec, MI/Kingsford) won two individual events and was part of a winning relay to lead the Bulls on Saturday. Adams took first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:40.90, less than two seconds off his lifetime best. Adams also won his signature event, the 200-yard backstroke, in 1:55.53 to lead the Bulls to a one-two finish in the race. Freshman Richard Shi (Ottawa, Ontario/Merivale) placed second in the race in 1:57.44. Senior Jeff Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) also pulled out a first-place finish on Saturday. Hurst won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:12.31. He also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.95. Ohio's Donald Jupp won the race in 47.56. Hurst and Adams were also part of UB's victorious 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:11.49. Hurst opened the race with a 47.39 split in his 100-yard portion of the race. The time was the fastest 100-yard freestyle clocking of the season for both Hurst and the Bulls. Adams was second into the water for the Bulls followed by freshman Kevin Schuster (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) and senior Kevin Gatley (Charlton, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake). The Bulls travel to St. Bonaventure for a non-league matchup on Thursday, January 26. The
