Bulls Roll Past Niagara in Men’s Swimming
NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The University at Buffalo men’s swimming team scored a 114-62 victory in non-conference action at Niagara’s Oxy Aquatic Center on Wednesday night. The Bulls improved to 3-2 on the season and the win over the Purple Eagles marked the 25th straight for UB in the series. Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward CSS) led the Bulls with a pair of individual victories. Sy won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:03.54 and later added a victory in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:59.65. Four additional Bulls scored single individual triumphs. Jeff Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.77. Dustin Hui (Gardner, MA/Gardner) took the 200-yard butterfly in 2:02.24. Jon Yarger (Centre Hall, PA/Penns Valley) scored a win in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.40. Aaron Moessinger (Elma, NY/Iroquois) won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:11.49. UB also added a relay victory in the meet’s opening event, the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Kurt Bessel (Mexico, NY/Mexico Academy), Moessinger, Geoff Wells (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) and Hurst turned in a 1:40.65 clocking. The Bulls host defending Mid-American Conference champion Eastern Michigan in their next action. The meet is slated for Friday, January 28, starting at 4:00 pm. It will be held in conjunction with the women’s meet against EMU. |
