Bulls Men's Swimmers Fall to Ball State
MUNCIE, IN - The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team dropped a Mid-American Conference meet Saturday afternoon to Ball State, 183-60, at the Lewellen Aquatic Center. With the loss, the Bulls fell to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in league competition. Ball State improved to 6-2 overall, 1-1 in the MAC. UB won just two events out of the 13 contested on Saturday. Sophomore diver Patrick Lee (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) captured the victory on the one-meter board with a total score of 302.17 points, bettering his season-best mark set against Niagara on Thursday by more than 27 points. Lee finished third on the three-meter board at 250.87 points. The other victory by the Bulls came from junior Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward CSS). Sy captured the 200 butterfly in 1:55.98, beating out a pair of Ball State racers by three-quarters of a second. Sy also finished second in the 1000 freestyle in 9:50.52. Four Bulls took third-place finishes in their events. Jim Taravella (Hamburg, NY/Orchard Park, NY) finished behind Lee on the one-meter diving board at 211.57 points. Jeff Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) was third in the 200 backstroke in 1:58.57. Dustin Hui (Gardner, MA/Gardner) finished third in the 500 freestyle in 4:53.87. Geoff Wells (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) took third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:15.48. The Bulls travel to rival St. Bonaventure for a non-league meet on Thursday, January 22 starting
