Bulls Bested By BonniesBUFFALO, NY The University at Buffalo men's swimming and diving team dropped a 146.50-96.50 decision to Western New York rival St. Bonaventure on Thursday afternoon at the Alumni Arena Natatorium. The loss snaps the Bulls' two-meet winning streak and drops their record to 2-3 while the Bonnies improve to 4-2.
Freshman diver Patrick Lee (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) registered two victories for the Bulls as he swept the one- and three-meter competitions. Lee scored 258.68 points on the one-meter board to edge out second-place Randy Kozlowski of St. Bonaventure (248.93) by less than 10 points. Lee also took the three-meter event with a total of 285.90 points. UB sophomore Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward) won the 1000 freestyle in 9:53.81 and finished second in the 200 butterfly in 1:54.86. Freshman Dave Richards (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) took the 200 backstroke in a season-best 1:57.02 for the Bulls. St. Bonaventure had three double-winners on the afternoon. Seth Johnson won both sprint freestyle races, taking the 50 in 21.89 and the 100 in 48.41. Borut Poje won the 200 freestyle (1:42.07) and 200 butterfly (1:54.15). Mike Petock took the 200 IM (1:57.69) and 500 freestyle (4:47.12). Adrian Blaszczak won the 200 breaststroke for the Bonnies in 2:06.90. The Bonnies also won both relay events. The team of Morgan Hagerman, Kyle Bull, Can Yildizli and Nick Bedward won the 400 free relay in 3:15.20. Luke Kneeland, Matt Cormier, Patrick Doret and Johnson won the 400 medley relay in 3:31.99. UB next hits the road with a meet on Friday, Jan. 31 against Toledo.
