UB Downs WNY Rival St. Bonaventure

The Bulls' men's swimming team won its second meet in a row as they downed St. Bonaventure, 131-110, while on the road in Olean. Dan Hickey (Brockport, NY) continued his successful swimming this season as he led Buffalo with victories in the 100 freestyle (47.05) and 200 freestyle (1:41.72). He was also a member of the victorious 400 freestyle relay (3:13.04) team along with Josh Pun (Edmonton, Alberta), Dexter Tatum (Gainesville, GA), and John Nilles (Staten Island, NY).

Other UB winners included Kevin Kelly (Webster, NY) (1000 freestyle - 9:50.79), Jason McLachlan (Arvada, CO) (200 individual medley -1:58.51), Dave Sofer (Brooklyn, NY) (1-meter dive - 221.55 pts.), and Eric Stimson (North Tonawanda, NY) (200 backstroke - 1:56.61).

Bulls Break Pool Record in Second Meet in a Row

During the Bulls victory over the Bonnies, Dan Hickey set a new Reilly Center Pool record in the 200 freestyle (1:41.72). This marks the second consecutive meet that Hickey has set a new standard for the host institution's pool as he also bettered Niagara's pool mark in the 200 freestyle at 1:39.79 (12/7). Hickey currently holds Mid-American Conference top times in the 200 (1:39.48) and 500 (4:34.23) freestyles. He, along with Kevin Kelly, John Nilles, and Jason McLachlan, has the best 800 freestyle relay time (6:49.33).
