Jeff Hurst Wins MAC Swimming Award
BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo men's swimmer Jeff Hurst (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) has been named the Mid-American Conference men's swimmer of the week. Hurst led the Bulls with two individual wins and a was part of a victorious relay squad in UB's 132-61 win over Canisius on January 8. Hurst turned in a 22.01 clocking to win the 50-yard freestyle and added a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.55, swimming both events for the first time this season. His 50-yard freestyle mark is the fastest by a UB swimmer this season. Hurst also swam the anchor leg of UB's winning 400-yard medley relay (3:37.17) Hurst is the second UB men's swimmer to earn the league honor this season. Senior butterflier Mark Sy (Scarborough, Ontario/Mary Ward CSS) won the award in November. The Bulls (2-1 overall, 1-1 MAC) host league rival Ball State on Saturday, January 15 at 1:00
pm at Alumni Arena Natatorium in their next action. |
