"Steffen progressed tremendously in his first campaign as a collegiate footballer in 2006. His tactical understanding rounded up well with his aggressive style of play. He possesses good range, allowing him to roam the middle of the park and patrol it safely. He is one of the best weapons the University at Buffalo soccer team has. He is quite cognizant of his defensive assignments, but he offers generous support to others in the defensive corps. Steffen must accomplish what his talents point to and become the best central defender in the MAC." - John Astudillo

Freshman (2006): Appeared in all 19 matches for the Bulls, including 14 as a starter...registered his first career point with an assist against Duquesne (9/22)...scored his first career goal in a 3-0 victory over IPFW in the MAC Quarterfinals (10/31).

High School: Played five years for head coach Arve Holm for his club team, Tiller... saw time at both the midfield and defense positions... played in 18 games in 2005, scoring two goals.
