Dezi Lara Defense Junior Fyzabad, Trinidad & Tobago Naparima

"Dezi now has the necessary experience to provide the Bulls with solid, consistent play at defense. His quickness and pace should enable the Bulls to start the attack and penetrate offensive areas. His concentration will be tested on defense, as he will be called upon to patrol the left flank with his ability to help direct the Bulls defense for an entire season. As he progresses, both Dezi and the team will expect balanced defense and offensive transition. Whether he plays as a man-marker or as an outside back in a four-man, flat back scheme, Lara has to become a dominant player on the flank." - John Astudillo

Sophomore (2006): Struggled with a groin injury which forced him to miss most of the season...was able to contribute late in the season, making four appearances, all in a starting role, including both of the Bulls  MAC Tournament matches.

Freshman (2005): Started in six of 14 games... logged his first career assist in UB's conference matchup against Bowling Green.

High School: Attended Naparima College, where he was team captain during his senior year for head coaches Jan Stedman and Curtwin Beard... named to the Secondary School Football League’s All-Star team as a defender... helped his team win the South League from 2002-2005 and Intercol title in 2002 and 2003.

Personal: Born October 9, 1985... parents are Peter and Jennifer Lara... has two brothers, Dazel and Dariel , and a sister, Deneil... his favorite athlete is Edgar Davids... favorite food is macaroni pie... the one person in history he’d most like to meet is Nelson Mandela... according to him, the best part of being a Division-I athlete is the exposure to a higher standard of play... majoring in civil structural and environmental engineering...UB Scholar-Athlete (Spring 2006).
