"Mateo comes to the Bulls with high expectations for the 2007 campaign. He must avoid the traditional sophomore jinx and drop in play. In 2006, he had flashes of brilliance on the ball and distributing it. Mateo has excelled at other high levels of competition, in high school and club level. His strengths lie primarily in his ability to receive the ball and turn on defenders to go to goal. His vision is getting more well rounded and as his strength improves he will be a major factor. Escobar s primary objective is not only to play his principle role, but also to organize the midfield to take advantage of his superior ball-handling abilities."  - John Astudillo

Freshman (2006): Made appearances in 16 matches, including seven starts.

Previous School: Played one season for Wilbraham and Monson Academy, solidifying the center midfield for head coach Gary Cook... led the team to a 11-2 record, leading to a WNEPSSA League Championship.

High School: Started every game while earning five varsity letters under the guidance of head coach Doug Nunn at Liverpool High School... led the team in scoring for two seasons, earning All-American recognition as well as first-team All-CNY, NYS All-State first team.

Personal: Born December 2, 1986... parents are Roberto and Heidi Escobar... has one brother, Brian, and one sister, Samantha... hobbies include playing the guitar and the Native American flute... favorite food is Lomito... favorite athlete is Pele... also enjoys swimming... major is undecided.
