Bulls Down Siena 3-1The University at Buffalo men's soccer team picked up its second win of the season on Wednesday (9/9) night by defeating the Siena Saints 3-1 at RAC Field. Sophomore forward Steve Butcher (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) powered the Bulls with his fourth and fifth goals in five games, while older brother Frank Butcher (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) tallied his second goal of the season. Freshman midfielder John Shannon (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) added one assist. The Bulls (2-2-1) got on the board early when Steve Butcher dribbled in and scored unassisted at the eight minute mark. Siena's (0-1-1) Jiri Adamek answered at 24:30 off a pass from forward Jamie Shy, but the Bulls scored responded a little over two minutes into the second half with Frank Butcher firing a deflected shot into the Saints' net. Steve Butcher scored again for UB at 86:25. UB will be in action this Saturday (9/13) when they play at 18th-ranked Notre Dame. The Bulls' next home game will be on Wednesday (9/24) when they face crosstown rival Canisius College at 7:00 pm at RAC Field. |
