UB Defeats CanisiusBulls Score Twice in Second Half to WinBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team remained undefeated on the season, recording a 3-1 victory over Canisius. The Bulls got three goals from three different players, including Tim Songer (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) who notched his fifth goal of the season. UB got on the board early as Sabastian Zawislan (Brampton, Ontario) headed a ball in off a pass from Steve Butcher (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) for a 1-0 lead in the first eight minutes. Canisius came back as Ryan Puntiri took a loose ball away from a UB defender and beat the goalie to score and tie the game at 1-1. The game remained tied into the second half when Songer's hot foot struck. Steve Butcher again provided the assist as Songer recorded his team best fifth goal of the season and has now recorded a goal in every game this season for the Bulls. Late in the game, Brian McCallion (Ballston Spa, NY/Shenendehowa) added an insurance goal to give the Bulls the 3-1 victory. The Bulls improved their record to 3-0-1 on the season and will open up their
Mid-American Conference season this Sunday when they host defending MAC Champion Akron at 1 p.m.
