UB Stops Losing Skid

Bulls Record Shutout Win Over Siena

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team ended their two-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Siena College. The Bulls (5-3-1) did not capitalize on some first half chances, but managed to put the ball in the net once each half for the win.

In the first half, Tim Songer (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored his team-best seventh goal of the year off a pass from Sabatian Zawislan (Brampton, Ontario) for the 1-0 lead in the 29th minute. Songer tried to return the favor a few minutes later on a breakaway, but Zawislan's shot was blocked by Siena goalkeeper Andrew Sether.

The Bulls played more hesitant in the second half, but in the 74th minute, Brian McCallion (Ballston Spa, NY/Shenendehowa) found John Shannon (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) in the box for the second UB goal. Bulls goalkeeper Justin Deming (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hills) played well, recording three saves and notching his third shutout of the season.

UB will be on the road this weekend when they travel to play at Delaware on Saturday, September 25. UB will return home on October 10 to face Long Island.
