UB Blanks NiagaraButcher , Songer Lead BullsBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team controlled the game against visiting Niagara, defeating the Purple Eagles 3-0. Tim Songer (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) dished out three assists, two of them to Steve Butcher (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda). The Bulls got on the board first as Songer fed Sabastian Zawislan (Brampton, Ontario) for the first goal of the game at the 34:15 mark and a 1-0 UB lead. Playing with a man advantage in the second half, the Bulls controlled the ball and spread apart the Niagara defense. Kevin Pitra (Solon, OH/Solon) fed Songer down the right side who then crossed it to Butcher for the second UB goal, scoring in the 68th minute. Less that 10 minutes later, Butcher and Songer worked a give-and-go and Butcher put the ball in the net for a 3-0 lead. Songer recorded three assists giving him four on the season and increasing his MAC leading point total to 14 points. Butcher scored his third and fourth goals of the season and increased his point total to 13 on the season. The Bulls improved to 4-1-1 on the season and will be on the road this weekend, while
Niagara dropped to 1-6-0.
