Bulls to Face Akron in MAC Quarterfinals

The UB men's soccer team finished the conference season with a 1-5 MAC record, good for sixth place in the regular season standings. The Bulls will face the Akron Zips in the quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament on Friday, with a game time of 7:30 pm.

Other conference tournament action will see fourth-seeded Kentucky face the number five seed Northern Illinois at 11:15 am. Game two will feature the number two seed Marshall squaring off against seventh-seeded Western Michigan at 1:30 pm. Regular season champion Bowling Green is the number one seed and receives a bye for the quarterfinals.

UB Ends Regular Season with Two Losses

The Bulls ended their regular season play this past weekend with identical 3-0 losses at Bowling Green and at Wright State. The Bowling Green game was the final conference game for the Bulls, who ended the MAC season with a 1-5 conference mark. It was the second time UB was shut out in back-to-back contests after being shut out for three straight games earlier this season.

Record Watch

Senior Brian McCallion is quickly approaching the UB career assist record. McCallion has two this season, giving him 17 assists on his career. Steve Butcher currently holds the career record with 19 assists which he set last season. McCallion may not be the only Bulls' player to pass Butcher this season. Tim Songer has three assists this year, giving him 16 career assists, which currently ranks fourth on the all-time list. In addition, Songer and McCallion are currently ranked sixth and seventh respectively in career points scored. Songer has 54 points and McCallion has 49 on their careers. Songer also ranks sixth in career goals scored with 19.

Wozniak in NCAA Rankings

Buffalo goalkeeper Brian Wozniak (Canton, MI/Plymouth Salem) is currently ranked seventh in the NCAA for most saves in a game this season. Wozniak recorded 14 saves in a 2-0 win over Central Connecticut on September 3. The most saves in a game this year is 17 by two separate players. Wozniak also recorded 11 saves in a 3-0 loss at Wright State.
