Buffalo Falls to Canisius, 1-0BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo men's soccer team finished the 2002 regular season with a 1-0 loss to crosstown rival Canisius at the Demske Sports Complex on Tuesday night. Golden Griffin Chris Robey's direct kick from 25 yards out sailed to the left side of the box and found the foot of Ryan Dummett who slipped the ball inside the left post at the 3:41 mark of the first half to give the Griffs the only goal of the game. Chris Vavrina (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), who got the starting nod in net for the Bulls, made two saves and allowed only one goal in the game. Canisius goalkeeper C.J. Keller posted five saves to earn his first collegiate shutout. The loss drops the Bulls to 6-8-1 on the season. Canisius improves to 3-11 with the win. The Bulls, who have qualified for the MAC Tournament, will now wait to see who they will play in the quarterfinals when the playoffs begin on Nov. 8. |
