Clarke Bestowed With Two Additional Awards
Senior forward awarded MAC POTW and named to Soccer America Team of the Week
 Andrae Clarke |
BUFFALO, NY - For his heroic efforts against then nationally 19th-ranked Northern Illinois Friday night, senior forward Andrae Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica/DeWitt Clinton) was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week and took weekly honors being named onto Soccer America Team of the Week Wednesday morning. The Kingston, Jamaica native has been awarded with two conference Player of the Week honors this season and, earlier this week, was named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Clarke made his statement known on Friday night, as he tied a season-high with three shots on goal. It only took one of them to find the back of the net for the game-winner. Clarke received the ball off a throw-in, and erupted with a low shot to the right side at the 85th minute mark. The 1-0 win was the team's seventh shutout of the year, and snapped a three-game winless streak. Clarke helped put his squad into regular-season title contention, with the Bulls sitting tied for second atop the conference rankings with Akron at 3-1, as nationally 24th-ranked Northern Illinois owns the top spot for the time being at 4-1. Clarke is currently second in the conference with eight goals and third in points with 18.
The Bulls' regular season comes to an exciting conclusion this Friday night, when the team travels to Akron in a rematch of last year's MAC Championship game. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m., and will have live stats streaming from Akron's athletics website.
