Bulls Fall to Akron, 3-0

Zips down Buffalo in cold, rainy affair

AKRON, OH - The Buffalo men's soccer team struggled under cold and rainy conditions as Akron topped the Bulls, 3-0, on Friday night at Lee Jackson Field.

Despite slippery and soggy conditions, the Zips managed to take 17 shots, nine of which were on goal. UB's offense was held to just five shots, with three coming on goal.

The night's scoring began at 23:46 when Alex Odwell found the net off a long pass from Chris Gnandt. The eventual gamewinner was Odwell's third score of season and third gamewinner. The contest would remain 1-0 until 82:54 when Hans Jorgen Haugland finished a ball from Ross McKenzie. It was Haugland's second score of the season. An insurance goal at 89:45 by Dino Campellone would put things further out of reach for the Bulls.

UB goalkeeper Brian Wozniak (Canton, MI/Plymouth Salem) managed to make six saves in the loss. Akron's netminder Dan Pinho recorded three saves to earn his third shutout of the season

The loss drops the Bulls to 6-7-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the MAC. Akron improves to 6-6-1 overall and a perfect 3-0-0 in the conference.
