BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo men's soccer junior forward Braden Byler (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) earned his first-ever Mid-American Conference Player of the Week award Monday for his outstanding play this past weekend. It was announced by the Mid-American Conference Monday morning.

Byler, who has seen action in 12 games this season, entered the game after UB's leading scorer, sophomore Lee Catchpole (Bungay, England/Norwich), sustained a head-to-head injury with a player from Bowling Green Friday night. With the score at 2-0 thanks in part to a goal and an assist by Catchpole, Byler sealed the win for the Bulls by netting two goals on four shots. Two days later, Byler started for the first time this season for the injured Catchpole and contributed with two shots in the Bulls' 1-0 win over IPFW.

On the season, Byler has three goals and an assist on eight shots. The start on Sunday was Byler's first this season.

UB, at 2-1 in conference play, is currently third in the standings below nationally top-ranked Akron and 22nd-ranked Northern Illinois. The team travels to Western Michigan Friday at 3 pm, then to 22nd-ranked Northern Illinois Sunday at 1 pm, to conclude the regular season.
