Buffalo Shut Out By Northern IllinoisBUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo men's soccer team could not overcome the 37 mph winds or their recent scoring woes on Sunday as they were shut out by the Northern Illinois Huskies 3-0 at RAC Field. The Huskies got on the board early with a goal in the 16th minute off the foot of Bernard Hagevik. Northern Illinois would add another goal three minutes later and take a 2-0 lead into the half. Northern Illinois added their final goal of the game during the 65th minute of play.
For Buffalo, sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Bell (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame) played all 90 minutes for the Bulls and managed to make three saves in the game. Shyle Braithwaite (Brampton, Ontario/Philip Pocock Catholic) led the Bulls with two shots. After scoring 17 goals in their first seven games, the Bulls have managed just three goals in their last seven games. The loss puts the Bulls at 7-6-1 for the year and 1-3-0 in the MAC. With the victory Northern Illinois improves to 11-4-0 and into a first place tie at 4-1-0 in the MAC. The Bulls will be back in action next Sunday, October 24 as they travel to Marshall for a 1:00
pm start. The Bulls will be back home on Friday, October 29 for their final regular season game
against Western Michigan. That game will begin at 7:00 pm. |
