UB, Niagara Play to 2-2 Tie

Peplinski, McCallion with UB goals

NIAGARA FALLS, NY - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie at Niagara University on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match for both squads. The tie moves the Bulls' record to 4-6-2 while the Purple Eagles are 0-13-1.

The Purple Eagles opened the scoring just 1:50 into the match as Andrew Krawczuk scored off of Adam Caruso's corner kick. Mike Peplinski (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) tied the contest for the Bulls at the 10:32 mark and the teams went into the half knotted at 1-1.

The Bulls took a 2-1 lead in the second half as Brian McCallion (Ballston Spa, NY/Shenendehowa) scored at 60:58. The UB lead would be short-lived however as Niagara scored the equalizer 1:04 later as Nick Boetcher scored on an assist from Ricky Fleck.

Neither team could find the back of the net during the rest of regulation or the two overtime periods and the match ended in the 2-2 tie.

UB outshot Niagara 18-7 as Bulls' goalkeeper Brian Wozniak (Canton, MI/Plymouth Salem) needed to make just one save. Niagara's Guillermo Rodriguez stopped nine Bulls shots.

UB returns to the Mid-American Conference wars this weekend when the Bulls host Western Michigan on Friday at 7 pm and Northern Illinois on Sunday at 1 pm.
