Men's Soccer Shuts Down BinghamtonBUFFALO, NY - Sophomore Patrick Beckley (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) and freshman Justin Higgins (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) provided the offense and junior Brian Wozniak (Canton, MI/Plymouth Salem) anchored the defense as the University at Buffalo men's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over Binghamton in the rain on Tuesday afternoon.
Beckley opened the scoring with his third goal of the season 33 minutes into the first half on a cross from junior Mike Peplinski (Syracuse, NY/Liverpool). The Bulls then added to their lead in the 65th minute when Higgins connected on his first goal of the season. Peplinski picked up his second assist on the goal, and sophomore Dave Pidgeon (Dorval, Qubec/Bishop Whelan) contributed with his fifth point of the season. Wozniak earned his third shutout of the season, stopping five shots as Buffalo outshot Binghamton, 15-7, and held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. The Bulls improve to 5-5-1 overall while Binghamton falls to 0-11. Buffalo will remain home
for its final home game of the regular season on Friday, October 19. The Bulls will take on Canisius at
7 p.m. in a match that was originally schedule for the week of September 11. |
