Facing off one-on-one against the last Titans’ defender, the Bulls’ leading goal scorer Unwin sped towards the net beating the defender. Walking in alone on the Detroit goalkeeper Brandon Waterstradt, Unwin sent a low ball into the left-hand corner of the goal out of the grasp of Watersradt for a UB 1-0 lead. On the Bulls’ next shot of the half, Unwin came close to giving the Bulls a 2-0 lead as he rang a shot off the crossbar. With the Bulls’ controlling the momentum of the contest, play was stopped in the 25th minute due to lightning. The delay allowed the Titans to regroup and take control of the contest, scoring three unanswered goals. The Bulls held an 11-10 shot advantage as Unwin accounted for six of their total shots.
The Bulls fell to Mid-American Conference opponent Northern Illinois, 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at the NIU Soccer and Track and Field Complex. The Bulls and Huskies played to a scoreless first half with each team registering five shots. The Huskies were unable to take advantage of ten corner kicks due to the Bulls’ solid effort in their own end. In the second half, the Huskies scored the lone goal of the contest in the 48th minute off a throw-in deep inside the Bulls’ end. With members of both teams battling for position, the ball ricocheted off a Buffalo player in the scrum and into the net for a 1-0 Northern Illinois lead.
