Bulls Beat Western Michigan, 2-1

Dezi Lara opened the scoring less than eight minutes into the match when he found the net off of a corner kick. Alex Marrello (Burnaby, British Columbia/Alpha Secondary) took the corner for the Bulls and got one assist on the play. Dominic Oppong (Scarborough, Ontario/Cardinal Newman) also picked up an assist on the goal. For Lara, the goal was the first of his UB career.

Dan Stevens

Buffalo increased their lead to 2-0 in the 54th minute when Dan Stevens scored for the second straight match. Stevens controlled a pass from Dan Bulley (Exeter, England/St. Peter's) off of his chest and fired a shot into the upper corner of the net past Western Michigan goalkeeper Casey Aubil. Along with Bulley, Juha Kaartoluoma (Pirkkala, Finland/Pirkkalan Yhteislunkio) also registered an assist on the goal, his first helper as a Bull.

Western Michigan (6-7-0) cut the UB lead in half when CJ Brown beat Robert Shuttleworth (Tonawanda, NY/Nichols) in the 62nd minute, but it was not enough as the Bulls went on to win the match 2-1. Shuttleworth made six saves in goal for the Bulls en route to picking up his seventh victory of the season.

Next weekend, the Bulls will once again be on the road as they travel to defending MAC champion Northern Illinois on Saturday, October 20. Game time is 2 p.m. eastern time.
