Bulls Fall To Marshall, 1-0

Senior goalkeeper Chris Vavrina makes six saves in a losing effort

BUFFALO, NY - On Sunday's Senior Day at RAC Field, the University at Buffalo men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to the Marshall Thundering Herd.

The game's lone goal was scored by Michael McDonald, 20 minutes into the first half. McDonald kicked a low shot through a slew of players in front of the Bulls' net, sneaking the ball past UB goalkeeper Chris Vavrina (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland).

Vavrina - one of four Bulls' seniors recognized on the afternoon - finished with six saves. All six of them came during second-half play.

Senior Patrick Beckley (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) and freshman Andrae Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica/Dewitt Clinton) led the Buffalo with four shots apiece.

The Bulls - who fell to 1-9-3 overall and 0-4-0 in Mid-American Conference play - do not return to action for some time. Their next contest is scheduled for Friday, October 24th, when they head to Kentucky to face the Wildcats.
