Bulls Come Back to Upend Bowling Green, 2-1
The Falcons (2-10-1) posted the first goal within the second minute of the first half, becoming the first team to post a first-half goal on the Bulls (8-3-1) this season. Falcon George Davis IV managed to squeeze past two Bull defenders to put one in the back of the net early. With a 1-0 edge, the Falcons looked for a possible upset over one of the conference’s top offenses.
In the ninth minute, senior forward Andrae Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica/DeWitt Clinton) spoiled the Falcon’s excitement with a game-tying boot off a throw in by senior Brain Knapp (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool). The equalizer was Clarke’s team-leading sixth goal of the season. Both teams would battle for the game-winner, but the Bulls ended the game early with their second goal of the match coming from junior Dan Stevens (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) in the 28th minute. Knapp would pick up his second assist of the match, finding Stevens with a give from the opposite side of the pitch for the winning goal.
The Bulls would carry the momentum of the first half by out-shooting the Falcons, 8-4, in the final 45 minutes. Senior goalkeeper Daniel Bell (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame) brushed away three shots to pick up his seventh win, while Bowling Green goalkeeper Paul Shoemaker made four saves in the loss.
Buffalo continues it brief east-coast road trip, as it travels to Big Ten foe Penn State on Sunday. The game is slated to begin at 3 pm.
