Men's Soccer Falls to Akron in MAC Opener
AKRON, OH - The Buffalo men's soccer team fell to Akron, 1-0, in the opener to Mid-American Conference play on Friday night at Lee Jackson Field. It was the Bulls' third straight loss and second by shutout. After the teams battled through a scoreless first half, the Zips tallied the game's only goal when Amico DiFranco booted a shot into the left corner of the net in the 51st minute. Akron goalkeeper Justin Christafaris needed to make only one save to earn the shutout. Daniel Bell (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame) made three saves, but was charged with the loss. The Bulls managed 12 shots in the contest, however, only one was directed at the net. UB has now been held to only one goal over the last three games and has been shut out in the past two outings. Buffalo (6-3-1/0-1-0 MAC) will return home to host Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
Akron improved to 6-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the conference. |
