Bulls One Up IPFW, 1-0
The Bulls (7-3-1) dominated in the shot category, 14-3, in the first half of play, seeing many opportunities to put on up on the winless Mastodons (0-10-0). The game would remain scoreless heading into the 85th minute, as senior Brian Knapp (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) hammered home the game-winner to earn the Bulls their fourth straight road win. Junior Dan Stevens (Liverpool, NY) found Knapp after a group of Mastodon defensemen flooded the box, seeking to create a turnover in their end. Knapp found the back of the net for his third goal of the season. With the assist, Stevens has now assisted in four straight contests, and now leads the MAC with six assists.
Mastodon goalkeeper Michael Knitter made a masterful effort in net, brushing away seven shots. Senior Daniel Bell (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame) captured yet another shutout win behind the stellar defensive starting four of senior Kevin Balkanloo (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), junior Herbert Deleon (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon), sophomore Dan Gwyther (London, England/Woodcote), freshman Ville Wahlsten (Naantali, Finland/Naantali). Bell's fifth shutout win leads the MAC.
The Bulls play in their second Mid-American Conference game of the season, as they travel to Bowling Green Friday afternoon and 4 p.m. |
