Drop Conference Opener to Hartwick 3-1

The Bulls dropped its conference opener on Tuesday to Hartwick, 3-1. Leading goal-scorer Mike Unwin led the Bulls’ offensive attack with his fourth goal of the season. In the 31st minute, the Bulls cut the Hawks’ lead in half as they scored their first tally of the contest to pull within one, 2-1. With a crowd in front of the Hawks’ net, senior defender Steffen Thoresen led the ball up to Unwin, located near the left goal post. Unwin received the chest pass, hitting the ball home to cut the Hawks’ lead to a lone goal. Sophomore Nick Fetterman recorded a career-high eight saves in 90 minutes of action.

Capture 300th All-Time Victory in Win Over Robert Morris 2-0

Buffalo captured their 300th all-time victory on Friday as they defeated Robert Morris, 2-0. In the 37th minute, the Bulls lost a key element of their defense off a red-card infraction, forcing them to play a man down in the remaining 53 minutes.

Lucas Bassan broke the game open with the Bulls’ first tally in the 83rd minute off a pass by senior Dan Bulley. As the ball bounced between players, Bulley sent a touch pass to the middle of the 18-yard box to Bassan. Rolling from left to right, Bassan fired a hard shot to the left post for the Bulls’ 1-0 lead.

In the closing minute, the Bulls’ leading goal scorer Unwin iced the contest off a scramble in front of the Colonials’ goal. Bassan settled the ball at the far corner of the 18-yard box before finding Unwin at the top of the box. Bassan played the ball back to Unwin, who unleashed a shot inside the left post to give the Bulls’ a 2-0 lead with seconds remaining.

Fetterman recorded his fourth shutout of the season, registering three saves in 90 minutes of action.

Bulls Fall to Duquesne 5-0

On Sunday, the Bulls concluded their two-game road trip by falling to Duquesne, 5-0 at Rooney Field. Entering the contest at the start of the second half, freshman goalkeeper Ryan Lewis recorded a save in his career debut.

Up Next: Big Four Rivals St. Bonaventure and Niagara

The Bulls (4-4, 0-1 MAC) will continue on the road as they face Big Four rival St. Bonaventure (2-4, 0-0 Atlantic-10) at McGraw-Jennings Field on Wednesday, September 30 at 4:00 pm.

The Bulls are currently on a four-game win streak versus the Bonnies, which started back in 2005. In their 30 all-time matchups, the Bulls hold an all-time record of 19-8-3 versus the Bonnies, outscoring them 63-36.

Following the Bulls’ contest versus the Bonnies, they will return home to face Niagara (2-4-1, 0-0 MAAC) on Friday, October 2 at 7:30 pm.

Holding a 20-12-5 all-time record versus the Purple Eagles, the Bulls have outscored them 91-51 in their 37 all-time matchups.
