Bulls Rebound To Shutout Siena, 2-0
In light of the coaching milestone, the Bulls (6-3-1) came away with the first goal of the game at 30:14 in the first half. Senior forward Andrae Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica/DeWitt Clinton) put the Bulls on the board with a loft over the Siena goalkeeper from the left side of the box. Assisting on the goal was junior Dan Stevens (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), who fed in the entry pass from the left side and has now racked up an assist in three straight games. Although Siena (1-6-1) held the edge in shots 8-4, the Bulls went into the second half with the lead.
Buffalo would capitalize on a Saint miscue, leading to the team's role reversal in the shot category. With the goalkeeper drawn out of the net at the 54:21 mark, senior Brian Knapp (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) rifled a cannon shot into the right side of the open net for his second goal of the year. Clarke picked the assist, boosting himself into ninth place all-time in school history for career points. The Bulls would go on to outshoot Siena 8-3 in the last 45 minutes, and take home the win.
Senior goalkeeper Daniel Bell (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame) made three saves on the day, picking up his fourth shutout in five games. Siena goalkeeper Patrick Henry played in 83:33 minutes, making four saves and allowing both UB goals. Offensively, Siena was led by Thomas Ciovacco, who racked up eight shots, two of them on goal.
UB sets off once again for an away game against IPFW on Friday in the team's first Mid-American Conference opponent of the year. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. |
