Buffalo Falls To Detroit, 1-0DETROIT, MI – The University at Buffalo men's soccer team saw its six-match unbeaten streak come to an end Sunday afternoon, losing at Detroit 1-0. Daniel Bell (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame Secondary) made six saves between the posts for the Bulls.
After a scoreless first half, Detroit (3-3-2) opened the scoring in the 64th mintue on a goal by Mark Djurovski off a feed from Renato Susnja. The Titans were able to hold Buffalo (5-3-1) scoreless the remainder of the match and held on for the 1-0 victory. Detroit goalkeeper Bryan Kloss made three saves in recording the shutout. The scoring chances between the Bulls and the Titans were nearly even, with Detroit holding the shot advantage 16-14 and Buffalo holding the corner kick edge 4-3. For Buffalo, sophomore Dan Bulley (Exeter, England/St. Peter's) and freshman Jordan Brouk (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) led the way with three shots each. Bulley, Dominic Oppong (Scarborough, Ontario/Cardinal Newman) and Alex Marrello (Burnaby, British Columbia/Alpha Secondary) each recorded a shot on goal for the Bulls. With the six saves that he made today, Daniel Bell has now made 200 saves in his career as a Bull. He currently ranks seventh all-time in saves among Buffalo goalkeepers. The Bulls will begin Mid-American Conference play next weekend when they host Bowling Green on Friday night at 7 p.m. at UB Stadium. Buffalo will then step back out of conference next Sunday when they travel to Pittsburgh, PA for a match with Duquesne. |
