Team Ventures East To Face Colgate On Friday

Bulls in search of eighth straight victory

BUFFALO, NY – The UB men's soccer team looks to continue its impressive run as it stampedes to Hamilton, NY to play Colgate on Van Doren Field Friday at 7pm. Both teams are ranked in the New York region by the NSCAA, and the game promises to be a hard-fought showdown from start to finish.

Buffalo, ranked third in the poll, is recently coming off a weekend tournament title run, as they shut out their opponents 10-0 en route to winning the Georgia Southern Kick-off Classic championship. At 7-0, the Bulls seek their eighth straight victory against a Raiders team that lost their first game of the season Wednesday night against Vermont. The Raiders stand at 3-1-2.

These two titans faced off to start the season last year, as UB blanked visiting Colgate, 3-0. Junior Braden Byler (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) helped propel the team to the shutout with two goals. The teams have met on eight different occasions, as the Raiders are on top in the series, 5-3.

The Bulls are led by junior Andrae Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica/DeWitt Clinton) and sophomore Lee Catchpole (Norwich, England/Bungay) who are both among the nation's offensive leaders for their outstanding play this season . Clarke, with four assists coming last weekend in the Kick-off Classic, leads the nation in assists with nine. Catchpole currently rounds up the top 20 in points with 15, having racked up a 2.14 points per game average.

Colgate is led by Devin Deane, who has four goals this season on 12 shots. The Raiders are more known for their defensive accolades after two shutout victories. Raiders goalkeeper Doug Litvack currently holds a 0.77 GAA and has 25 saves. The game will be available via live, free internet radio coverage provided by Colgate Athletics. The coverage will begin at 6:50 pm and is available at www.sportsjuice.com/providers/colgate.
