BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team stumbled in Friday night's home match with Duquesne, falling to the Atlantic-10 opponent by a count of 2-1. The Bulls continued its nine-game streak of having not given up a first-half goal, but the Dukes were able to capitalize with two scores in the final 45 minutes, to end UB's four-game win streak.

The Dukes (4-3-1) could not muster many offensive opportunities in the first 45 minutes of play, being denied of any shots on goal or corner kicks. The Bulls (5-3-1) survived a scare in the 23rd minute, when Duquesne's Greg Annan was unable to get a shot off in front of the empty net. UB's defensive backs were able to clear the ball out of harm's way, thus preventing a goal in the first half for the ninth consecutive game.

In the final frame, Duquesne took charge, converting within the second minute of the second half ,right in front of the net. Annan received a second chance to hammer home his first goal of the year, and succeeded with a shot that creeped into the net off a deflection off the top crossbar from four yards out. The goal had ended Buffalo goalkeeper Daniel Bell's (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame) run of 360:30 minutes of not letting in a goal, and boosted the Dukes to a 1-0 lead.

Duquesne would put another goal up on the scoreboard at the 88:34 minute mark, gathering a 3-on-1 breakaway in the Buffalo' end of the pitch. Alex Trujillo, after receiving dishes from two of his fellow teammates, would score the eventual game-winner in the bottom left corner of the net. Within a minute, Buffalo bounced back with a goal of its own, coming from sophomore forward Marc Stencel (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga), who scored his first goal of the year off volleys from junior Dan Stevens (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and freshman Steffen Thoresen (Trondheim, Norway/Kristen Videregaaende Tronderlag). The assist was Thoresen's first point of his young Bull career.

Bell managed to brush away four shots, all in the second half, while Duquesne's Zach Varga made six saves, three in each half.

The Bulls next travel cross state to tango with Siena on Sunday. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.??
