Late Goal Earns Bulls A 2-2 Draw At BucknellLEWISBURG, PA – The University at Buffalo men's soccer team earned a 2-2 tie at Bucknell Friday evening, taking the Bulls unbeaten streak to six matches.
After a scoreless first half, Marrello became the first multi-goal scorer of the year for Buffalo (5-2-1) when he scored within the first minute of the second half. Martin John (Ottawa, Ontario/Lisgar Collegiate) began the play with a pass to Dominic Oppong (Scarborough, Ontario/Cardinal Newman) who touched the ball to Marrello who fired a rocket past the Bison goalkeeper to give UB a 1-0 lead.
So for the fourth time in their last five matches, Buffalo went into overtime. The Bulls earned two corner kicks during the additional 20 minutes, UB won the corner kick battle 8-3, but Buffalo was unable to find a game-winner. Robert Shuttleworth (Tonawanda, NY/Nichols) made five saves, including one in overtime, while the Bulls forced Bucknell goalkeeper Joey Kuterbach into making four stops. Buffalo will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Detroit, kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. |
