Songer Named MAC Player of the WeekBUFFALO, NY - UB men's soccer player Tim Songer (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week today by the MAC office for his efforts in leading the Bulls to a 1-0-1 record this past week. In the Bulls' 1-1 tie with Siena, Songer scored the lone UB goal in the 41st minute of play. Songer then led the team in the 2-1 win at Long Island University, assisting on the first goal and then scoring the game-winning goal. His assist came off a corner kick that was headed in by Geoff Thompson (Clarence, NY/Clarence). Songer then netted the gamewinner in the 56th minute, scoring from 25 yards out and giving UB the victory. Songer currently leads the Bulls in scoring with three goals on the season. He also has two assists and a team-high eight points. For his career, Songer ranks seventh in career goals at UB with 18, fifth in career assists with 15 and sixth in career points scored with 51. Songer is the first UB student-athlete to receive MAC Player of the Week honors this school year. He was also the first UB student-athlete to receive the MAC Player of the Week award last school year, receiving that honor on September 29 of last year. Songer and the Bulls will be in action again this coming weekend when they travel to play at defending regular season MAC champion Akron on Sunday, September 24, at 1 pm.
