Men's Soccer Ties Detroit, 1-1

Bulls Can't Resolve Double-Overtime Battle

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo sophomores Patrick Beckley (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) and Mike Geller (Gardiner, NY/New Paltz) combined for Buffalo's lone goal 58:19 into the game as Buffalo and Detroit played to a 1-1 double-overtime tie on Sunday afternoon.

Detroit's Eric Scott opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the 39:07 mark of the first half before Beckley scored his first goal of the season off a header from Geller to tie the game. The score would stand as neither team could reach the back of the net for the final 61:41.

Buffalo, which outshot the Titans 19-12, had several opportunities to end the game in the second extended period as they fired five shots that landed just wide of the net.

Brian Wozniak (Canton, MI/Plymouth Salem) had another strong game in goal for the Bulls, recording two saves. Over the last 300 minutes (three games), Wozniak has surrendered just one goal. So far this year, the junior has a 3-0-1 record and an eye-popping 0.46 goals against average.

UB will open its Mid-American Conference schedule on Friday, September 21, when they host Akron at 7 p.m.
