BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team extended its win streak to three games Friday night in a 1-0 shutout victory over Western New York foe St. Bonaventure. The match featured both teams exhibiting a physical-style of play, attempting to bully the other into submission early on in the match, when the Bulls broke out of the 0-0 draw in the 74th minute.

The Bulls (4-2-1) held on to the tie heading into the half, holding strong despite being out-shot 6-3. The Bonnies (0-6-0) drew a total of ten fouls from UB, creating much turmoil and frustration from both sides.

As Buffalo applied more pressure, more and more opportunities were presented in the form of nine shots in the second half. Senior midfielder Mat Wilkinson (Newcastle, Australia/St. Francis Xavior) was credited with his first collegiate goal in the 74th minute off a herculean throw-in from fellow senior Brian Knapp (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool). Knapp hurled the ball in front of the Bonnie net to find the opposition missing chances to clear the ball out. Wilkinson, who was honored at halftime with a visit from his parents all the way from Australia, cleaned up the mess in front for the goal. The Bonnies were led by Phil Amahazion, who was credited with two shots on goal.

Senior Daniel Bell (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame) made key saves for the Bulls, stopping six shots and picking up his third shutout of the season. As of Friday night, Bell was tied for first in the Mid-American Conference in shutouts per game (0.50), dropping his goal against average to a conference-best 0.46.
