Men's Soccer Ties Robert Morris

Bulls finish 0-1-1 in the Bulls Fall Invitational

BUFFALO, NY - Despite getting off twice as many shots as Robert Morris, the University at Buffalo men's soccer team could only manage a 2-2 tie against the Colonials in the final day of the Bulls Fall Invitational on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, the Bulls got on the board early in the second stanza when freshman TJ Osbourne (East Greenbush, NY, Columbia) scored on a breakaway in the 49th minute to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead. It was Osbourne's first career goal. Buffalo held the lead until the 71st minute when Jamie Dodds scored on a penalty kick to tie the contest, 1-1. Robert Morris (2-1-1) went ahead just six minutes later when Ben Abebe scored off of a corner kick at the 76:28 mark. The Bulls rallied back to tie the contest, 2-2, in the 83rd minute when Dave Pidgeon (Dorval, PQ/Bishop Whelan) placed a high lofting pass that Geoff Thompson (Clarence, NY/Clarence) was able to head into the back of the net. It was Thompson's third goal of the young season.

The score remained tied after regulation and no overtime was played.

The Bulls outshot Robert Morris 20-9. Robert Morris' goalkeeper Mike Ozdinec was stellar in goal, making 10 saves.

Buffalo (1-2-1) will next face Army on Thursday, Sept. 12 at RAC Field. The game is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
