Men's Soccer Opens With WinBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team got their season underway Sunday afternoon, defeating Central Connecticut State in the Blue Devils own tournament, as Buffalo came away with a 2-0 win. The Bulls got on the board early in the game as Jay Page (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) scored the first goal at the 4:20 mark on an assist from Tim Songer (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool). UB would take that lead into the second half and then add to it at the 62:07 mark. Chris Vinci (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's) scored on an assist from Brian McCallion (Ballston Spa, NY/Shenendehowa) to give UB a 2-0 lead and hold on for the win. CCSU outshot the Bulls 18-7 in the game, but UB goalie Brian Wozniak (Canton, MI/Plymouth Salem) played a strong game, recording 14 saves and finishing with the shutout. UB (1-0) will next play this Wednesday night at Canisius before traveling to play at the Cal-Irvine Tournament next weekend. |
