Men's Soccer Falls to Central Connecticut in the Season OpenerNEW BRITAIN, CT - The University at Buffalo men's soccer team dropped its opening game of the season, 2-1, to Central Connecticut at the Central Connecticut Tournament today. It was the season opener for both teams. The Blue Devils wasted little time getting on the board as Fahad Al-Batrani scored just three minutes into the contest. Central Connecticut scored its second goal of the game at the 56:41 mark when Krzystof Korckzak found the back of the net. Geoff Thompson (Clarence, NY/Clarence) got the Bulls on the board at the 62:41 mark when he took a pass from Dave Pidgeon (Dorval, PQ/Bishop Whelan) and scored on a breakaway. It was Thompson's fourth career goal. Starting goalkeeper Brian Wozniak (Canton, MI/Plymouth Salem) made six saves for the Bulls. His counterpart Jeff Brunetti made seven saves to pick up his first victory of the season. With the loss, the Bulls drop to 0-1-0 on the season. They will face Sacred Heart on Sunday
in the final game of the tournament. The game is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. |
