Bobby Shuttleworth to Start for New England Revolution Former UB goalkeeper to make professional debut
versus New York Red Bulls
BUFFALO, NY – Former University at Buffalo men’s soccer goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth will make his professional debut for Major League Soccer's New England Revolution. On Wednesday, May 12, the Revolution will face the New York Red Bulls in a U.S. Open play-in match at Red Bull Arena with the kickoff set for 8:00 pm.
A 2008 second-team All-MAC selection, Shuttleworth was selected to the All-Tournament squad in the 2007 season. Shuttleworth put together a stellar regular season in 2008 with a 0.64 goals against average in 18 matches while recording eight individual shutouts. He anchored a UB defense that posted seven straight shutouts and a streak of 680 consecutive scoreless minutes, which was the longest active streak in the nation when it was halted. Shuttleworth joined the Revolution after a brief stint with the Austin Aztex of USL-1. Shuttleworth had to clear through waivers at both the USL and MLS level before being signed by the Revolution.
