BUFFALO, NY - Western New York had one of its finest years ever in collegiate men's soccer last fall, as two of its four Division I programs posted drastic improvements over their 2004 numbers. On Saturday, fans will get a sneak preview of the 2006 teams, as the University at Buffalo hosts Niagara, Canisius and St. Bonaventure for the Second Annual Little Four Spring Tournament at UB Stadium, with the action beginning at 9:30 am.

The Bulls (14-3-2 overall) enter the spring tournament as the favorite after posting one of the nation's top 10 most-improved records in 2005. Junior Andrae Clarke (Kingston, Jamaica/DeWitt Clinton) leads the team after finishing ninth in the nation in assists per game (0.58) and 28th in points per game (1.53). Clarke was named to the All-MAC and NSCAA/adidas All-New York teams as well as the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Season. Junior goalkeeper Daniel Bell (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame) ranked 11th in the nation in goals against average (0.654) and 21st in save percentage (.821).

The Purple Eagles (9-9-1) also posted one of the nation's most improved records after a 4-13-2 mark in 2004. Led by junior Matt Stedman, who scored 13 goals and added 10 assists to rank sixth in the nation in scoring, the Purple Eagles graduated just five players from the fall squad.

Although the Bonnies (4-11-3) had a disappointing fall, they are the defending Little Four Tournament champions. The team is led by junior Kevin Omokhua, who is a two-time Atlantic 10 All-Star and who posted a team-high seven points and three assists.

The Golden Griffins (3-12-3) also improved on their 2004 mark and were led by four goals from freshman Matt Rath. Junior goalkeeper Matt Houghton was second in the nation with a seven saves per game average.

The tournament features six games in a classic format, with a team earning three points for a win and one point for a tie. The games are split into two 30-minute halves with a five-minute halftime.
