Men's Soccer Lands Six Student-Athletes On MAC Academic Honor Roll

BUFFALO, NY - Six men's soccer student-athletes were named to the 2001 Mid-American Conference Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office.

Seniors Bill Norberg (Allison Park, PA/Shaler) and Kevin Pitra (Solon, OH/Solon), junior Geoff Thompson (Clarence, NY/Clarence) and sophomores T.J. Borawski (Cheektowaga, NY/Canisius), Jared Cain (Victor, NY/Victor) and Chris Vavrina (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) all received recognition from the MAC for their academic and athletic performance.

In addition, defenseman Pitra was named to the Academic All-MAC team for having a 3.25 GPA or higher and participating in at least 50 percent of Buffalo's games during the 2001 season.

Student-athletes must obtain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher and earn a letter for the current season to be eligible for the honor roll. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible as student-athletes must have attended that institution for an entire year.

The Bulls finished the season with an 8-7-2 overall record and a 2-3-1 conference mark. Buffalo dropped a 1-0 triple overtime decision to Bowling Green in the quarterfinals of the MAC Tournament in the season finale on November 9.
