Steve Butcher Named Mid-Con Player-of-the-Week
Sophomore forward Steve Butcher (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) was named the Mid-Continent Conference Soccer Player-of-the-Week on Monday (9/15). In addition to scoring two goals in UB's 3-1 win over Siena on Wednesday (9/10), Butcher helped the Bulls upset 19th-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday night (9/13) in South Bend with two unassisted goals, including the gamewinner at 9:47 of sudden death overtime. Butcher has scored seven goals in leading the Bulls to a 3-2-1 record this season, and has at least two goals in three of UB's last four games.
The Bulls will play next at Akron on Sunday (9/21), before returning home on Wednesday (9/24) to face crosstown rival Canisius College at 7:00 pm. Admission for everyone is free.
